Executive Function Coaching for Parents
Are you experiencing these executive function challenges with your student?
Big emotions at home
Lack of structure
Resistance to start tasks
Low effort in school
Overwhelmed with their transition to middle school, high school, or college
Getting “stuck” or giving up easily
Breakdown in communication
Feeling like you’re “nagging”
Rule breaking
We use research-based, customized one-on-one coaching methods to help parents cultivate tools and strategies to help their student develop academic, social, and life skills. These are the skills that help them focus, practice discipline, and remain resilient when they experience setbacks — so they can manage real-life situations with more confidence and independence.
Our coaches are expert educators with Master- and PhD-level training. As subject matter experts in executive function, study habits, and organizational techniques, they will recommend tailored tools and strategies to support your students for life-long academic and personal success. We work with parents whose students have ADHD, autism, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, face unique challenges from a medical condition, or do not identify as neurodiverse. We never want to change who parents are, just help them learn the skills to support their students to be their most successful selves!
Through parent coaching, you will be matched with an expert coach in order to develop individualized strategies to help you teach your student executive function strategies to help them be successful at home, school, and in life. We coach in executive function areas such as:
Organization
Study skills
Time management
And more!
Attention and concentration
Communication
Goal directed persistence
Independence
We also provide student support through one-on-one coaching with adolescents and young adults.
Step 1: Free 30-minute Consultation
After scheduling your free 30-minute consultation, you will meet with a team member to discuss how our services can help you, the logistics of coaching, and any questions you have.
Step 2: Meet Your Coach and Set Goals
Your coach will help you set and prioritize goals in your first meeting. They'll pull from their experience and training to make tailored recommendations and set realistic expectations.
Step 3: Build Your Toolkit
You can expect that your coach won't just make recommendations for tools, but they will help you make a plan for how to implement them with your child. After all, it doesn't matter how many tools you have in your toolbox if you don’t use them!
Step 4: Meet Your Goals and Close
While some clients prefer long-term coaching, our job is to put ourselves out of a job. At The How Skills, our goal is to provide you with a sustainable and flexible set of tools that you can maintain on your own and use throughout your life.
